The Canary Islands are perfect for a road trip and to visit the many places and sites. There are eight routes you should go on to enjoy the island's road trip.

You can start from Western Islands, at Tenerife and La Gomera, to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the Eastern part. The massive Loro Park in Puerto de la Cruz and Las Nieves natural park glaciers have fascinating paths and trails for hiking lovers.

This post describes the best places to visit on your road trip in the Canary Islands.

Tenerife has a glorious blend of landscapes and historical heritage. The road around the island is long, but it will be sublime to behold, with beautiful views of beaches, towns, mountains, and volcanoes.

You can start at Orotava through different villages. Here you will see the incredible Tenerife scenery and beautiful views far beyond description.

You cannot complete a road trip through Tenerife without a bike ride. Therefore, ensure you install a land rover discovery roof rack. You will use it to carry your mountain bike to ride the trails.

On the ride, you'll see magnificent views of El Teide, Güímar, Playa Grande, La Laguna, and Punta de Teno, where you can take amazing photos. The fantastic Sacramento caverns will leave you breathless with their picturesque mountains and hills.

Gran Canaria

The Gran Canaria lies on the northern route. It starts from Las Palmas and goes into Cruz de Tejeda. It's the third-largest island. It has a road winding through the mountains with views of beaches and historical towns at the roadside.

You can visit the Ingenio valley while here and explore its beaches, cliffs, and rock formation. Other sites to visit are Arucas and Agüimes on your way to San Miguel de Abona. They have breathtaking views over mountains and hills.

Lanzarote is one of the best places to take a road trip while on the Canary Islands. It has a unique landscape formed by lava and volcanic cones and peaks, which form elegant mountains. There are also craters like Caldera de Bandama, Valdes de Lanzarote, and El Juncal.

The peaceful beaches with clear water are splendid for resting after a long day on the road. Valdes de Lanzarote is a national monument thanks to the volcanic cones which form the road between Teguise and Tahiche.

Fuerteventura is well-known among road trip lovers. This trip leads to beautiful places on the island.

The Fuerteventura road trip starts from Puerto del Rosario or Costa Calma. It stretches over a distance of 111 miles between those two points having its endpoint at Corralejo, which is on its northern side. It is full of beaches, emerald green waters, and a beautiful view of the mountains and dunes.

Las Palmas

Las Palmas is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Canary Islands. Local people fondly refer to it as the 'La Isla Bonita.'

The city offers a wide range of attractions, including beaches, museums, parks, and several other iconic landmarks that make it historic and lively.

People who love spending their time with nature choose road trips to Las Palmas. It's a Biosphere Reserve and offers quiet places for relaxing and unwinding. Traveling by road allows exploring the city and visiting various sites that are outside your radar.

El Hierro

El Hierro is the smallest island of the Canary Islands, located west of La Palma. UNESCO declared it a biosphere reserve for its landscape consisting mainly of water sources, volcanic rocks, and different species of plants and animals unique to the island.

La Restinga, Puerto de la Estaca, and Valverde are some places you must visit when in El Hierro. For kayakers, surfers, hikers, and snorkelers, it's the place that you must see for a fantastic time with nature.

La Graciosa

The second smallest island of the Canary Islands is La Graciosa. Its small population makes it a great place for privacy.

You can take a walk through a forest of cacti and other tropical plants. Several clubs are on this island, but one of the most exciting places for Road Trip lovers is Maria Christina Club. It includes a bar with an incredible view over the Atlantic Ocean.

The island has white sand beaches and turquoise waters that make it worth the trip.

La Gomera

This island has a lot of things to visit, like Albufeira de Pájara. Here you can find the Church of our Lady del Socorro and the Iglesia de San Mateo or take a walk through Las Cuevas de Los Verdes (the Green Caves).

This Road Trip is perfect for adventure lovers looking for activities like hiking, diving, snorkeling, or biking. You can't miss it!
