Jean Claude Kabongo shares that acrylic paint is composed of pigments, a water emulsion and an acrylic resin. It is based on the chemistry of acrylic acid. It is therefore not a natural paint, it comes from petrochemicals. But it is much less toxic than oil paints which are more solvent-based paints. Indeed, Jean Claude Kabongo indicates that acrylic paints dry by evaporation of the water they contain and not by evaporation of volatile organic solvents. And even when they contain it, they are in very small quantities, which allows acrylic paints to display the NF environment standard or even the Ecolabel.
