Step 1- Visit The GTM Account Page

Step 2- Make Your Google Account

With the help of Google Account, click on Sign In to create a Google Tag Manager Account with Google Account details. 

Step 3- Create your GTM Account

Once your Sign In is complete, the next step is to have a GTM Account Creation Page. All you have to do is to add the name of the company and click CONTINUE.

Step 4- Set up your GTM Container

The main role of a GTM container is to manage all your tags. To set up a GTM container follow the following steps:

  • You have to tag your Container name with your respected site name. Make sure you don’t use HTTPS:// or HTTPS://

  • Choose your container that will be used further; such as Web, iOS, Android, or AMP.

  • Next click “Create”.

Step 5- Don’t forget to accept GTM Terms of Services

You must agree to all the terms and conditions if clicking on “YES”. In fact, if you want to move on further for installation then you must click yes to make further progress.

Step 6- Open Your GTM Container

Click on your Container Name

Step 7- Click on your GTM Tracking code ID

Click on the GTM Tracking ID

Step 8- Install GTM

This is the main step if you want to move ahead. Don’t forget to do the audits for all the current tags installed in the code of your website, mobile applications, or AMP pages. Prepare an analytics migration plan in advance before you start.

For example, if you have already installed Universal Google Analytics and also installed Universal Analytics using Google Tag Manager; this will result in having two similar Universal Analytics codes on the page. As it will count the pages twice and will also result in having wrong bounce rate metrics.
