A career in finance is very lucrative. It is one of the highest paying industries for those that have recently graduated. However, work-life balance is almost non-existent in these high-paying roles, especially investment banking. Salaries for investment banking (IB) range from $100,000 to $120,000 in base and another 50% to 100% of that as a year-end bonus for the analyst level (analyst level roles are for new graduates right after college). Investment banking involves working Entry-level roles in private equity (another lucrative industry) however, require a couple of years of experience and an MBA. Despite this, salaries in PE firms for associates (the most junior role), range from $160,000 to $300,000.
