What NFT influencers Are and What They Do

Influencers attract followers that sometimes number in the millions. This is the same whether they are operating from Web 2.0 on social media sites like Twitter, SmartMoneyMatch, and Facebook, or promoting NFTs in the metaverse along with their favorite content topics. For those who are not familiar with NFT influencers, we provide a guide to what they are and what they do and contrast them with Web 2.0 influencers.

Web 2.0 and Web 3.0. Influencers

Influencers on social media exert an influence on their followers, recommending products as they collaborate with businesses and get paid for doing this. In the metaverse, an influencer wields a 'metafluence' on followers. There is even a Metafluence City which aims to become a “decentralized Web 3.0 civilization”.

Regardless of whether influencers have an influence on social media platforms or in a metaverse world, their fans follow them everywhere. It could be a coffee shop on planet earth in the physical universe or an art dealership selling NFTs in the metaverse, but followers are influenced to buy real or virtual products. Check out the top influencers for NFTs.

If you are not sure what a metaverse is, we will look at that in more detail after taking a closer look at influencers on social media.

Web 2.0. Influencers

Web 2.0 has a huge influence on people; take for example the influencers on Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms. They provide regular content to their followers on one or more topics that interest their audiences. This regular posting is recognized by an algorithm that pushes their content forward, making influencers evermore visible. Influencers team up with businesses to market products to their followers. Because of the personal brand of the influencer, the person is highly influential over the decisions made by followers, including purchasing choices.

Check out the top influencers in the United States. The number one influencer in this group has 375.9 million followers. On Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo, a soccer player from Portugal, has 455 million followers. By contrast, Justin Bieber is followed by a mere 264 million fans.

The Metaverse

Another name for the metaverse is Web 3.0. The universe is the physical ‘all that is’. The metaverse is its digital counterpart. Both of these ‘… verses witness countless interactions 24/7. They are different kinds of realities. Those people who enter the universe play a part in its ongoing creation. It is a three-dimensional online universe that exists in parallel to the one we are used to living in.

The metaverse contains various metaverses or worlds. If you play The Sandbox or Decentraland, you can create one of these worlds and make it as complex as you please and are capable of. You need NFTs or cryptocurrency to operate in these metaverses. This is where you will find 'metafluencers'.

There is another type of metaverse. These consist of social media platforms and online communities that you can join. Unlike regular platforms (e.g. Facebook), you can buy virtual items, such as NFTs. An example is Facebook Horizon. Despite all the activities you can participate in, there is one strange feature – nobody has legs. Check out its Horizon Workrooms to grasp the concept better.

The influencers in the metaverse ('metafluencers') will encourage you to buy NFTs. These NFTs are unique creations, such as figurines, soccer tokens, artwork, music videos, and much more.

Becoming an influencer, whether in the universe or metaverse, can be highly lucrative for the person concerned. The more followers they acquire, the greater will be the demand to collaborate with them.
