SmartMoneyMatch offers the biggest global event calendar for the investment industry with 120+ upcoming events.

Organizers can list their events—while we also offer media partnerships —and interested participants can find events of interest.

In the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers mainly canceled or rescheduled, while the new trend seems to be organizing hybrid and virtual events.

Online events are developed in the virtual sphere and are not bound by the restrictions of physical environments. Although they have important advantages, they lack the visual cues that govern face-to-face interaction.

Do you think the SmartMoneyMatch platform can compensate for this, as you can browse and list investments,  create a request for proposal, find investors, search service providers or offer your services, connect with and message other users, search for and announce relevant events, find jobs, post vacancies, and publish articles?

Attending or hosting events with opportunities to think together as a group and interact with one another are critical to create insights and bring energy up. The first virtual conference I participated in was a one-way broadcast and despite lots of performance and polling/chat innovation. It was awful. Now that I attend and run fully collaborative events where participants think together and even meet one another it’s hard to imagine doing another webinar-type event.

Virtual events can generate higher attendance numbers, increase engagement, and result in a significant reduction in operational costs. Despite the uncertain environment that surrounds us, there is no reason to think that in-person meetings will cease to exist. However, we can expect online events to become increasingly significant, and the current challenges are likely to accelerate a widespread switch to virtual and hybrid event formats.

Even if technology runs smoothly, managing interactions can be challenging. Any virtual event that involves audience participation must necessarily have a moderator or facilitator to ensure the smooth running of the meeting and adherence to schedule. Facilitators should be well versed in virtual etiquette – and so should be the audience, so make sure to circulate emails that explain in detail the event’s participation protocols.
